In partnership with West Perth Rotary Club, YKIP has accomplished a library project in SDN 5 Butiyang, Tejakula. Located in a remote area, this school used to have no library and the students had very limited access to books. YKIP and West Perth Rotary Club believe in the power of books and the importance to help children develop a love for reading. Therefore through this project, we aim to establish a new library where the students can spend more time to read books in order to gain more knowledge.
Butiyang School Library Project was conducted on 11th May 2018 and we have successfully provided 70 educational books for the students. Huge thanks to the local residents of Butiyang for helping us provide the bookshelves for the library and carry all books to SDN 5 Butiyang. The students were thrilled with their new library and fascinated to see books that they have never read before. Books on dinosaurs, planets, culture around the world, world leaders, and all of other exciting books which make them no longer wait to start reading.
In the near future, the school will provide member card for each student. This member card will allow the students to borrow books and read them at home. More books also will be provided for the students in SDN 5 Butiyang. The more books they read, the broader insight the students will get about the world regardless of how remote they live, as books are the windows to the world.
