The film Long Road to Heaven, produced by Nia Dinata was inspired by the events of 12 October 2002. The film also tries to present both the bombers’ and victims’ viewpoints. According to Kalyana Shira Films: “The movie itself is trying to capture the moment from many different points of view; the terrorists, victims’ families and foreigners. Though categorized as a feature film, LRTH is based on factual research where every sides are presented in balance therefore we hope that the viewers can take side on humanity and peaceful heart.”

Kalyana Shira Films, which produced it, donated part of the proceeds to YKIP-YKIDS. YKIP was invited by Kalyana Shira Films in Jakarta to come to Jakarta to attend their Gala Premier of “Long Road To Heaven (Makna Dibalik Tragedi)”. Two YKIP staff, Rucina Ballinger (CEO YKIP), Sherlyana (Field and Admin Officer of YKIP) and one of the children of the victims, Limna Rarasanti flew to Jakarta and stayed for 6 days from January 18th to 24th, 2007. The Gala Premier of this film was presented in Pondok Indah XXI Cineplex, Pondok Indah Mall 2 Jakarta on January 23rd, 2007 and on January 25th, 2007 in all XXI Cineplex in Indonesia except in Bali.

On Friday, 16th February 2007, the producer and the film maker of Long Road To Heaven came to Bali to have a meeting with the government of Bal as he wanted to know the response of the Bali community about the film. YKIP (Rucina and Sherly) and Yayasan Isana Dewata (Haji Bambang) organized this meeting which was held at Gedung Wiswa Sabha, Renon Denpasar, attended by all of top functionary level including Government’ secretary, DPRD, Bafida, MUI, the victims family, Australian Consulate, and others. Unfortunately, two days after that the government decided that it could not give permission to launch or release the film in Bali due to the fact that they felt it would bring up too many bad memories.
