Artists in Our Programs

YKIP encourage the students in  its program to participate in non-academic activities whether in sports or arts. We always proud of our students who are actively engaged in the program. Now we would like you to meet some dancers in our program:

Citra, Diah, and Widi, KEMBALI Gianyar students

We were thrilled when one of our biggest supporter, Mitrais, invited us to join their staff gala dinner on November 15. The students of YKIP presented Sekar Jagat as a welcome dance for all guests that night. The dancers were KEMBALI Gianyar students: Citra, Diah, and Widi.

Citra and Diah study in senior high school, while Widi studies to be a beautician in a vocational high school. The three girls were able to mesmerise the guests with their beautiful dance and got applause from the guests. The most amazing part of their performance is that they only  did rehearsal just 15 minutes before they danced on the stage!

The three girls started dancing since they were in elementary school and they continue dancing until now. Diah was one of the dancers in the opening of IMF meeting last year in Nusa Dua, while Citra actively learn to dance Gambuh, an ancient dance that in the edge of extinction. Widi actively dance for religious ceremony in the temples near her house. We are really proud of you girls!

Wawan from KIDS Program

Since he was very young, Wawan showed a great interest in arts. He joined gamelan music group for children when he was in elementary school. He also interested in dancing since very young age. Because of his love to the arts, he chose to study in SMKN 5 Denpasar majoring at Traditional Music.

When it’s the time to continue his study to higher education, Wawan chooses to study in Indonesia’s Arts Institute Denpasar. He chooses Performing Arts major because he can learn many forms of performing arts. Wawan is also a good dancer and have performed in many religious ceremonies around his home.

This semester he has to create a dance inspired by animals or trees. Wawan came with the idea to create a kangaroo inspired dance. Together with his friend, he performed the dance on the mid semester test. It is a cute and funny dance where they use kangaroo costumes. After the mid test, Wawan will have to teach the dance he created to primary school children and perform the dance in the front of his friend for the final test. Wish you the best for your dancing exam, Wawan.
