KEMBALI program covers more than just the awardees’ school fees. Once every quarter, the YKIP team distributes various supplementary supports that include but not limited to stationaries, uniforms, fees for extracurricular activities, multi-vitamins for the primary school students, and many others. The team also welcomes donors who would like to visit their awardees during the distribution event.
Last year, KEMBALI team selected 39 students to receive the KEMBALI Best Students 2018 award during the Second Quarter of Distribution Event. Each one received a certificate of achievement and a gift package in recognition of their accomplishment from YKIP.
Some 76 students from year 12 (equivalent to the third year of high school) supported by the YKIP attended the Youth Career Planning Workshop 2018. Each of them will soon find themselves standing at an important intersection in their lives right after graduation: to join the workforce, continue their studies, or carve their own path through entrepreneurship. The workshop aimed to equip them with the necessary tools and knowledge to make the best possible choice.
Since its initiation in 2009, 15 sponsored students have benefited from the YKIP University Scholarship and all of them are academically outstanding senior high school graduates.

Alice and her third-grade class had been running their annual calendar project for ten years. The year 2002 was the 10th anniversary of their calendar’s project. The calendar sales were always donated to the disadvantaged people in Ometepe island, Nicaragua. When the Bali Bombing incident occurred, it shocked the students.
I did my best to get the scholarship I believe “Where there is a will, there is a way”. I was extremely happy knowing that I was selected as one of the YKIP’s university level scholarship grantee. I then continued my study and went to a university in Bali. College life was not easy. Studying in a higher level was challenging but I did not give up. YKIP became my motivation when in college.
On the occasion, KIDS distributed school supplies and additional USB Flash drives, bags and shoes for university students. Beside that, KIDS also gave away some gifts for those who have been consistently showing their achievements - either academic or non-academic.
Every year, we provide our sponsored children with comprehensive school supplies, enrollment fee, school fee, book allowance and other allowances to support their study.
Firstly, we need to express the gratitude to West Perth Rotary Club that has generously shown their concern toward the education facilities of students at SDN 5 Les Butiyang. SDN 5 Les Butiyang is one of the remote schools in Bali, located on the hill in Butiyang village, Amlapura, Bali. The journey was not easy, as described by Purniati, one of YKIP volunteers, ”It took us 3 hours from Denpasar by car, then continued by motorbike.
Jonas has always been excited to join YKIP activities and this year he initiated to hold a Solar Lamp workshop for children in Seraya Barat Village. The idea firstly came from Jonas’ concern on the limited lighting for the people in West Seraya area.
For these adolescents who are at the cusps of entering adulthood, this is an important turning point, one that will have a tremendous effect on their future.
This initiative project came early in December 2017 when YKIP’s Head of Management Board announced her vision to provide every university student supported through KIDS Scholarship Program with a laptop for learning at school and at home.
This is a very difficult time for all of us. The outbreak of COVID-19 has affected so many people around the world, as WHO declared the outbreak a global health concern and characterized COVID-19 as a pandemic in March. As a response to this, YKIP has taken some necessary steps to prevent the spread of the virus:
As the Indonesian government advised all the citizens to halt the spread of the coronavirus by practicing social distancing, YKIP staff started to work from home on Monday, 23 March 2020 until further notice. All staff are working remotely from their own home and only go to the office for an urgent matter.
YKIP temporarily stopped all field-related work, including surveys and monitoring, starting the beginning of March. The last field work was the vocational candidate survey. We will continue to do our field work as soon when the government advises that it is safe to work as normal.
It is with a heavy heart that YKIP decided to postpone the 4th quarter donation distribution. It was scheduled mid-April, but due to more reported cases of COVID-19 infection in the region, the distribution is rescheduled until it is conducive to safe social activity. We realize that this decision will be very hard for all of us, especially for the children in our KEMBALI program, however it is necessary to prevent further spreading of the virus and for the safety of our sponsored children and their community.
We will do our best to minimize the effect of the COVID-19 outbreak to everyone working with YKIP.
