The Lawyers’ Conference

10 July 2025

On the first day of June, the YKIP team had the honour of attending the annual Bali Family Law Conference at Conrad Bali, Nusa Dua. The event was hosted by our long-standing donor, Law on The Lounge, who has supported girls’ education through the KEMBALI and University Scholarship Programs for over a decade.

More than just a professional gathering, this conference is also an event that supports the girls scholarship fund. In addition to financial support, participants also donate school supplies and clothing, which are later distributed to students.

Girls’ Scholarship in Honour of Justice Carolyn Martin

The Girls’ Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Justice Carolyn Martin, an Australian lawyer with a deep commitment to justice and women’s rights. She was passionate about girls’ education and believed in the power of learning to uplift communities.

After her passing due to illness, Susan and Peter Cole, the founders and organisers of Law on The Lounge Conference, created this scholarship fund in her honour. The funds are channelled through YKIP to support girls in the KEMBALI and University Scholarship Programs. Since its inception, the fund has helped 24 girls complete their senior high school education and supported two students through university.

Law on the Lounge 2025 Conference Highlights

YKIP staff were warmly welcomed by the organisers, Susan and Peter, who met with us before inviting us into the conference room. There, we had the opportunity to introduce YKIP and share more about our programs with the participants.

As part of our presentation, we shared the inspiring story of Diah Lasmiari, one of the girls supported by the Justice Carolyn Martin Fund for Girls. Diah is a talented traditional dancer and makeup artist who has participated in several international cultural events. With the help of the scholarship, she was able to finish high school while also nurturing her creative passions. Today, three years after graduating, Diah has become a sought-after makeup artist in her hometown. She is especially busy during the traditional wedding season and is currently preparing to open her own studio, which she expects to complete in the next three months.

We are truly grateful for the continued support and trust given to YKIP and for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful event. We look forward to attending next year’s conference and continuing this impactful collaboration.
