YKIP Continues KEMBALI Scholarship Program in 2023

23 February 2023

More than 205 thousand people were considered to be living below the official poverty level in 2022. These individuals make less than $ 1.9 per day, or about IDR 358,233 each month. Many more families are insecure and live on incomes that are only marginally higher. Living on that income is quite challenging, especially if there are school-age children in the family. Children from the poorest homes are less than half as likely to complete secondary school as their more affluent counterparts, according to UNICEF.

The goal of the YKIP is to help end poverty by promoting education. Under the KEMBALI scholarship program, YKIP supports underprivileged kids in Bali’s education so that we can carry out our goal.

KEMBALI Scholarship Distribution in January

We were able to keep providing education aid to kids in Bali because of the help of our kind benefactors. Beginning on January 21, the YKIP team traveled to communities from Denpasar to Les Village in Bali’s northern region to meet with the sponsored students and their families. The scholarship distribution ended on February 11, 2022.

For the third quarter of the academic year 2022–2023, YKIP distributed monetary allowance with the following information:

  • A transportation allowance to cover potential transit costs from home to school.
  • A book allowance to help parents cover the cost of the pupils’ textbooks and homework.
  • An allocation for extracurricular activities to support the student’s involvement outside of class.

In addition to the allowances, YKIP offered packages of school supplies for 460 sponsored students. The payment of tuition has also been made directly to the schools in 13 areas in Bali where the students of the KEMBALI Scholarship students studying.

Without the continued assistance of donors, YKIP partners, and our committed teams and volunteers, this accomplishment would not have been possible. We sincerely appreciate their time, expertise, and talent to contribute to this humanitarian cause.
