University Scholarship Update: Antiningsih’s Graduation

14 April 2026

What began as a journey marked by hardship has led to a remarkable achievement for Antiningsih, one of YKIP’s university scholarship recipients from Karangasem. Coming from a humble background in East Bali, she graduated from Undiknas University in February 2025 with honours in accounting, achieving an outstanding GPA of 3.93.

Anti first received her scholarship in elementary school and continued to receive support until she graduated from university. She shared her story with the YKIP team, and we are pleased to share her story with you:

“I was raised in a humble family in a coastal village in East Bali. My parents have three children, and we struggled just to get by each day. I clearly remember going to school in hand-me-down uniforms from my cousin. There were visible stains on my white shirt, and my socks were so loose that I had to use a rubber band to keep them from falling. Once, I even used a clear plastic bag with a strap as my school bag because we could not afford a new one.

Then I received the KEMBALI Scholarship from YKIP. For the first time, I went to school wearing a new uniform, a decent pair of shoes, new notebooks, and proper writing supplies. I felt safe, comfortable, and much more confident. This also motivated me to study harder. In my second year after receiving the scholarship, I ranked second in my class. The opportunity to study without worrying about school fees brought me peace of mind and allowed me to fully focus on my studies. I graduated from elementary school with the best grades.”

 Senior High School Years

“With the YKIP scholarship, I continued my studies at a vocational high school in Abang, about 7 kilometres from my village. I chose this school because I was very interested in accounting, and it was the only vocational high school in the area offering that major.

After several months, I was required to study from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. School activities were limited, but I was grateful to continue receiving support during that difficult time. I would like to thank my donors who supported me through YKIP during those challenging years.

After finishing senior high school, I decided to continue my studies at university. I was hesitant at first, but my family encouraged me to move forward. I applied to Undiknas University, which has one of the most reputable accounting programs in Bali. I also applied for a government grant but was unsuccessful. I almost lost hope, but then I received a message from YKIP informing me that I would receive support to continue my studies at university.

In addition to tuition fees, I received a monthly allowance, which I used to rent a boarding room in Denpasar with my cousin. The generosity of my donors not only supported me but also helped my cousin, allowing us both to live in Denpasar. This scholarship motivated me to study hard and complete my degree on time.”

Looking Ahead

“The support I received, from second grade until earning my bachelor’s degree, is a priceless gift. It changed the course of my life and had a meaningful impact on my family and those around me. After earning my degree, my next step is to work hard and support my family financially. If one day I am given the opportunity, I hope to help other children in need, just as I was helped, so they can achieve their dreams.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to YKIP, especially to my donors, Ms Lene Fischer and her family, who have given so generously. Your kindness is a miracle that became a bridge for me to achieve dreams that once seemed impossible. Thank you for believing in my potential and allowing me to come this far.”

We are incredibly proud of Anti’s achievement as she takes this important step toward her dreams. Are you inspired to support more students to pursue university education? Please feel free to contact us at info@ykip.org for further information.
