We would like to take you on a glimpse back at the many exciting events at YKIP in 2024, beyond our regular scholarship distributions. We were proud to host a variety of activities for students in our KEMBALI, Vocational, and University scholarship programs.

Scholarship distributions 

2024 began with the scholarship distribution for our KEMBALI Scholarship Program. January, as the second semester of the academic year in Bal, we kicked off our first activities by supporting 408 students from six project areas: Badung, Denpasar, Gianyar, Karangasem, Bangli, and Tejakula.

The second scholarship distribution took place in April, marking our final meeting with the 12th-grade students of the 2023-2024 academic year. A total of 88 students passed their exams in April and received their high school diplomas in June. Saying goodbye was bittersweet, especially to those who had been in our program for several years. However, we waved them off and wished them the best in their future endeavours.

Our third scholarship distribution was in August, after the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year began in July 2024. We welcomed 25 new students into KEMBALI Program. With this addition, we continued supporting a total of 346 students in their pursuit of senior high school education.

The final distribution event took place in October 2024, reaching all students in the KEMBALI Program. By the end of the year, YKIP had supported a total of 434 students, including graduates from June and the new enrollees for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Workshops 

In 2024, YKIP organized several workshops to equip students with skills and knowledge not typically covered in school. Collaborating with universities in Denpasar and other organisations, we aim to reach as many students as possible.

Digital Literacy 

YKIP partnered with Universitas Bali International to deliver digital literacy workshops to our students in Kuta, Sanur, Tejakula, and Gianyar. In addition to basic digital literacy, we invited a lecturer from Primakara University to share information with the students in Denpasar on protecting themselves from cybercrime, especially sexual exploitation online, in October 2024. A total of 4 digital literacy workshops were held last year.

Reproductive Health 

To help students understand their bodies and how they respond to changes during and after puberty, YKIP collaborated with KISARA PKBI Bali, an organization specialising in teenage reproductive health. We reached students in Pengotan and Tejakula, delivering two reproductive health workshops as part of the KEMBALI Program in 2024.

Financial Literacy 

Financial literacy is crucial for students, as they begin their job training and start earning their own income. In fact, some of the sponsored students have even already started small businesses. With the right skills in managing their money, they can break the cycle of poverty. In 2024, we conducted three financial literacy workshops for students in Tejakula, Sukawati, and Pengotan.

 Youth Career Planning Workshop 

In December, we hosted our annual Youth Career Planning Workshop for grade 12 students, held at Monarch Bali Gianyar. This year, 78 students attended the event, where speakers from various fields, including HR, IT, hospitality, management, and entrepreneurship shared their insights. Vocational Scholarship Program 

At the beginning of 2024, 16 students continued their studies in the 2023-2024 academic year under the Vocational Scholarship Program, while completing their on-the-job training in the industry. These students graduated in September and October 2024.

In February 2024, we conducted the survey for new student intake for the 2024-2025 academic year, resulting in 15 new admissions in June. With this addition, the Vocational Scholarship Program now supports a total of 31 students.

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Award from the Mayor of Denpasar  

In December, YKIP was honored with the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam certificate from the Mayor of Denpasar. This award recognizes our dedication to improving the welfare of people in Denpasar Municipality through our scholarship program. We are proud to have received this acknowledgment from the Denpasar Government and look forward to further collaboration to assist those in need.
